Why going preowned is the best thing for your wallet and the planet...

Every year, an average of 9.5 million tonnes of textile waste goes into landfills. The fashion industry emits more carbon than international flying and shipping combined. The production of cotton results in a large amount of pesticides being released into the environment. Yet, the fashion industry has grown exponentially in the past 20 years. We don't wear 79% of the clothes in our closet, yet we continue to buy. This is because we buy on impulse, we buy something that is not our style, we own something that is not in style (hello, fast fashion!) and we still keep clothes that do not fit. It is time to take action. You are never going to wear that glittery dress that you bought because of peer pressure for your next birthday. So, what do you do? You do the 3 R's, you refresh your wardrobe by giving away the clothes you never wear, you renew your closet with clothes you wear (ideally from a preowned market) and you recycle your clothes (find clothing swaps, rentals and preowned stores or markets). You will find a much better variety for a much lower price. The best part? This is eco-friendly guilt free shopping!
